The College of Education for Human Sciences organizes a symposium on social communication.
The Continuing Education Unit in the College of Education for Human Sciences - University of Basra, in cooperation with the Departments of Educational and Psychological Sciences, and History, organized a symposium entitled: (Commandments on Social Communication)
The symposium aimed to educate students on how to use social networking sites, meaning how to use this technology to facilitate the exchange of ideas and information through communication between communities.
The symposium in which each of: (Professor Mahmoud Shaker Abdullah) and (M.M. Aya Abdel-Amir Ali) and moderated by (Professor Dr. Nidal Muhammad Qanbar) lectured included areas and benefits of communication, as the positives of social communication are numerous in many ways. areas, including:
1- It expanded the circle of social relations, becoming a useful and effective tool in forming new friendships, and facilitating communication with friends with whom contact was lost.
2- A means to form an effective public opinion, as it provides for wide interaction between groups on some issues.
3- Following up on world news, which led to the development of social networks.
4- An effective means of promotion used by commercial companies, as social networks are a good tool for promotion.
Social networking sites also have many disadvantages, including:
1- Risks of fraud and theft, and individual information can be accessed.
2- Privacy breach.
3- The effect on family relationships.
Among the most important commandments and recommendations that came out of the symposium on social communication are:
1- To take into account the time and place in social communication.
2- Social communication should be necessary and not for other things.
3- Social communication should have a specific goal.
