The College of Education for Human Sciences - University of Basra organized a panel discussion on analyzing adhesion tools and grammatical and lexical correlation in the articles of English-language learners, especially in the third stage.
The episode in which the postgraduate student (Ikram Taha) lectured aimed at clarifying the concepts of adhesion and grammatical and lexical connection, as well as showing the importance of these two concepts in student essays, and how their absence or misuse when writing leads to a lack of understanding of the idea that the student is trying to communicate. .
The episode dealt with the definition of the concepts of adhesion and grammatical connection, and showed that the main reason behind this study is to know whether everything that is taught to students is learned from them or not? With the statement that the majority of English language students suffer from not knowing how to write an essay well, and this weakness is due to the lack of knowledge of how to link the sentences of the article together, through the tools of adhesion and grammatical and lexical association.
The seminar touched on the most important analysis models that will be adopted in this study. Including the adoption of the Holliday and Hassan model in the analysis of grammatical and lexical adhesion tools, the adoption of the Oshima and Hook model when analyzing the syntactic association tools.
