A master's thesis was discussed at the College of Pharmacy at the University of Basra and it was entitled Association of Urinary Estrogen Levels with Urinary Isoflavone Levels in Hormone Positive Breast Cancer Pre and Postmenopausal women Treated with Anti- estrogens and Vitamin D by graduate student Ibtisam Abboud Jaber
The thesis dealt with the effect of soybeans on breast cancer patients with positive hormones before and after menopause who are dependent on anti-estrogen therapy, as well as the relationship of soybeans with vitamin D and calcium, and thus the effect on the prevention of osteoporosis after menopause. Elias for all breast cancer patients is hormone positive and an analysis of the estrogen hormone was performed by HPLC for three months after giving soy milk as well as vitamin D, calcium, CA15-3, ALP and iron.
The Thesis concluded that the hormone estrogen decreased, vitamin D and calcium increased, and the indicators of sodium CA15-3 and ALP, as well as iron, decreased.
The study is considered the only one in Iraq and the Middle East countries compared to the countries of Asia and the West
