The Clinical Pharmacy Department at the College of Pharmacy at the University of Basrah organized a panel discussion entitled (Tooth decay and the role of Candida fungus) with the participation of researchers and specialists.
The panel discussion dealt with a lecture delivered by Assistant Professor Dr. Gibran Khalil Hassan, in which he discussed the most important factors that cause caries, how to preserve teeth, and what is the role of germs in tooth decay.
Dr. Gibran also touched on recent research on the role played by the Candida fungus in the initiation and spread of the dental caries process. He also referred to the most important methods of caries prevention, the role of the salivary gland and its secretions to protect teeth from caries and fungi, and how to use treatments that stop the spread of these fungi and thus reduce the decay process.
