Board research at Basra University College of Medicine discussed the performance of three systems for measuring glycated hemoglobin in patients with sickle cell trait in Basra. The research presented by the student Rafid Kadhim Al-Nasiri aims to evaluate the performance of a group of devices used to measure glycated hemoglobin in sickle cell trait patients in Basrah. The study concluded that the use of Roche Cobas Integra Gen.2 and Bio-Rad Variant IITurbo methods was not preferred in estimating HbA1c in regions with common sickle cell trait. Diagnosis or follow-up of blood sugar control in patients with sickle cell trait needs to be re-evaluated due to the limitations of the methods used to measure HbA1c in Basra.
