The College of Pharmacy at the University of Basrah discussed the master's thesis tagged (Formulation, characterisation and evaluation of ticagrelor loaded nanomicelles for enhancement of oral bioavailability) by student Zainab Fadel Abbas
The thesis dealt with the use of nanomicelles technology for the purpose of preparing nanocarriers that have the ability to improve the absorption of ticagrelor through the intestine.
The thesis included a study of the effect of the volume of distilled water, the volume of the solvent and the amount of permeability catalyst (TPGS) on the size of nanoparticles and the dispersion factor. Also, examining the permeability of the drug with a modern technique that includes using a small part of the intestines of mice, as this study is the first to use this technique to examine the absorption of the drug through the intestines.
The study concluded that ticagrelor nanomicelles are highly stable when passing through the acidic stomach and neutral intestinal perimeters, and also when stored for three months, as shown by the study of the high permeability of ticagrelor from the intestine when prepared using nanomicelles technology.
