The study aims to diagnose certain types of viruses and bacteria associated with eye infection at both the conventional and molecular levels. This study included collecting samples from the Al-Mawani Hospital in the city of Basra, and isolating types of bacteria and viruses by taking swabs from eye patients, diagnosing them using traditional methods in isolating bacteria on certain culture media, and discovering the most important types that affect the eye. As well as diagnosing viruses by extracting the DNA of the virus and knowing the most important types that infect the eye by Real-Time PCR.
The study recommended that there is a need for more isolation of new bacteria and viruses that cause eye inflammation (conjunctivitis) from more people to obtain new types of many viruses and the use of standard and modern methods in the diagnosis of bacteria that cause eye inflammation and compare them with traditional methods and to identify patterns of sensitivity to antimicrobials and trends in resistance to strains Bacterial isolated from ocular infections, as well as associated line factors.
