The College of Law at the University of Basrah organized a symposium on women's rights and their protection through websites.
The symposium aims to spread a conscious application of this right by empowering women in Iraq on their right to political participation within the project of political participation (a right, not a gift), which was based on the Iraqi constitution, Iraqi laws and national action plans, in addition to a wide range of international human rights law instruments and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.
The symposium recommended the implementation of the covenants of the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights and the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women, in addition to the Vienna Declaration and Program of Action, the Declaration on the Elimination of Violence against Women, and the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action Resolution 1325 on women, security and peace.
