the thesis included One of the important topics witnessed in the history of Iraq during the past nineties, which is (the effects of the economic blockade on the general conditions in Iraq 1990-2003), as Iraq witnessed during that period many important historical events, especially the wars that lasted for a number of years, including the Iran-Iraq war of 1980 -1988, which lasted for eight years, exhausted the country and weakened its economic forces, in addition to that, it plunged the country into another war, which is the second Gulf War in 1990, which resulted in Iraq’s invasion of Kuwait on the second of August 1990, that invasion that had a great impact in bringing Difficulties for the Iraqi people, which were represented by the imposition of an economic blockade on them according to a resolution issued by the UN Security Council, which bore the number 661, following Iraq's invasion of Kuwait.
The thesis included three chapters, an introduction, the preamble, a conclusion, and a list of sources. The preamble dealt with the situation in Iraq under the presidential regime 1968-1990. As for the first chapter, it dealt with the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait on August 2, 1990, and its impact on imposing the economic blockade on Iraq. The second chapter focused on the effects of the economic blockade on the political conditions 1990-2003. The third and final chapter was devoted to highlighting the effects of the economic blockade on the economic and social conditions 1990-2003.
The thesis concluded that the economic embargo imposed on Iraq included various aspects of life, in addition to that that era had drawn the history of Iraq for the coming years and its relationship with the neighboring Arab and regional countries and the countries of the world. I also put these results in the hands of the next Iraqi governments so that they do not fall into the mistakes that the previous governments made and brought Iraq to where we are now. As we are trying to take advantage of historical events to build the future of the new Iraq.
