A master's thesis was researched in the College of Pharmacy at the University of Basrah (preparation of solid dispersion systems for the purpose of increasing the solubility of poorly soluble treatment in water using Candesartan Celextil as a model) by the student Esraa Saad.
The study included the possibility of increasing the solubility of candesartan, which is an inhibitor of the AT1 receptor, used in the treatment of high blood pressure and heart failure, in order to increase the solubility of the treatment and increase its absorption.
The study dealt with how the treatment with the hydrogate polymer led to the formation of solid dispersion and the transformation of the treatment from the slightly soluble crystalline form to the amorphous and soluble form, which may lead to an increase in its bioavailability.
The thesis included a study of the effect of treating the treatment with the polymer on the solubility of the treatment. Laboratory tests were conducted to study the extent of mixing between the treatment and the polymer and whether there was a chemical change.
The thesis concluded that the treatment with the polymer hydrojet at a ratio of 1: 5 (treatment: polymer)
led to an improvement in the solubility of the treatment at a rate of 27,000 times compared to the pure powder, and the treatment was well mixed with the polymer, and there was no chemical interaction between the treatment and the polymer, and the treatment was transformed from the crystalline state to the amorphous state, which helped in increasing the solubility
