The Department of Ecology, College of Science, University of Basrah, discussed a master's thesis entitled “The Removal Efficiency of Petroleum Hydrocarbons From Polluted Water Using Electrochemical Method based on Nanoreceptors”.
The researcher's thesis, Rand Salah Khalifa , included a study of some water properties and the ability of nanoparticles synthesis from the water at Hamar Mishref North station in the Zubair oil field.
The thesis aims to improving water quality properties and the ability of nanoparticles to remove petroleum hydrocarbons from water.
The thesis concluded that nanotechnology is an economical, fast and highly efficient technology.
The thesis recommended increasing the number of stations and increasing the number of samples, using nanotechnology to remove other pollutants, not just hydrocarbons, and using another plant extract to obtain nanoparticles.
