A volunteer team from the College of Dentistry at the University of Basra, in cooperation with the Department of Student Activities at the University of Basra, carried out the task of restoring and rehabilitating the Al-Jahiz Primary School for Boys in the Al-Baradiyah area in the Governorate of Basra.
The team consisting of a number of faculty members and a number of students at all stages indicated that they provided sums of money in order to restore the library and provide it with the necessary furniture and books to be a refuge for students during their free time to read and review during exam times.
A member of the donating team, Dr. Sarah Adel, stated that the restoration included painting the walls of the library, installing secondary ceilings, curtains, carpeting the floor of the library, installing cooling devices, establishing additional electrical points, strengthening lighting, providing wastebaskets and large containers for waste, in addition to equipping the library with thirty chairs and a collection of children's stories.
The faculty of the College of Dentistry and its students were creative in achieving the students’ dream of providing a recreational place for the students after they felt their urgent needs for it, through their visit to the school and providing them with health care, and thus they achieved the most wonderful forms of solidarity for the University of Basra with the government schools in the province.
