
The College of Science at the University of Basrah discussed a master's thesis entitled (isolation and evaluation of bacteria from hospital wastewater to remove pharmaceutical compounds through built-up wetlands)
The thesis of the researcher, Nour Kazem Jabr, showed the detection of the highest concentrations of medicinal and personal care compounds in hospital wastewater and the Shatt Al-Arab River, and the isolation and identification of bacteria from wastewater.
The aim of the study was to investigate the ability of selected bacteria to degrade ibuprofen and to determine the performance of wetlands established on a laboratory scale in the phytoremediation of ibuprofen.
The thesis recommended studying local plants that can live in Iraq and examining the effectiveness of different designs for different constructed wetlands and establishing wetland systems in the hospital with ornamental plants because of their effectiveness.
