
The College of Dentistry University of Basrah organized a scientific lecture on the negative effects of fumes and gases emitted from oil wells on general health and the environment, delivered by Dr. Hazem Saad Jabbar.
The lecture showed the most important respiratory diseases that affect humans due to gases emitted from oil refineries, such as asthma, diarrhea, chest pain, suffocation, bronchitis, skin irritation, nausea, leukemia, and cancer.
The lecture explained the most important gaseous oil pollutants, which are considered one of the most dangerous factors affecting the environment, which are gases, fumes, odors and small particles that remain suspended in the air as a result of burning gas associated with oil extraction and refining, in addition to oil pollution of water with crude oil and petroleum products, which causes extremely harmful damage to the aqua wealth and sea creatures in general.
