The teaching staff member at the College of Pharmacy at the University of Basrah, Assistant Professor Laila Jasim Abbas, participated in a discussion panel organized by the College of Health and Medical Technologies in Basrah on drug carriers.
The panel discussion included a lecture delivered by Dr. Laila Jasim entitled "Drug carriers with a promising future," in which she explained the meaning of drug carriers and their role in selectivity, efficiency, and drug delivery management. Dr. Laila also highlighted the role of nanotechnology in designing drug carriers on a nanoscale for ease of delivery to the targeted organ in the best possible way. Drug carriers can be classified into natural carriers such as phytosomes and hemoglobins, or synthetic carriers that are prepared in the laboratory, including inorganic carriers containing some metals such as platinum, gold, zinc, and organic carriers such as micelles, liposomes, and other types.
