The lecturer at the College of Education for Pure Sciences at the University of Basrah, Prof. Dr. Dawood Salem Abed, obtained a patent from the Central Agency for Standardization and Quality Control of the Ministry of Planning, for preparing anti-breast cancer and new antioxidants derived from cysteine and containing the two thiazolidine and oxadiazole rings.
In partnership with a researcher from the Directorate of Education in Dhi Qar, Dr. Ahmed Abd al-Hadi Majeed, the team prepared new compounds from thiazolidine derivatives that contain the oxadiazole ring. Both rings are biologically effective and give good results against cancer cells of type MCF7, as well as effective results against oxidative stress and bacteria.
