Board's research at the University of Basrah discussed a comparative study between ultrasound examination and magnetic resonance imaging in diagnosing a rupture of the rotator cuff of the shoulder joint.
The research presented by student Amjad Abd al-Salam Mohsen assessed the accuracy of ultrasound compared to magnetic resonance imaging to detect a rupture of the rotator cuff of the shoulder joint.
The research concluded that the ability of ultrasound examination and magnetic resonance imaging to identify patients who do not have a tear, who have a partial or complete tear of the rotator cuff of the shoulder joint is comparable and very accurate.
The study also showed that MRI is superior to ultrasound in detecting partial rupture and no rupture.
