The College of Education for Human Sciences - University of Basra - Department of Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance organized its third integrated international scientific conference on (Youth...Challenges of Reality and Future Prospects). And then the national anthem. Then the Dean of the College (Professor Dr. Hamid Siraj Jaber) delivered his speech in which he praised the efforts of those in charge of organizing the affairs of the conference, and gave a presentation of the series of conferences held by the College this year, which monitored psychological, educational and scientific problems and presented a number of solutions It was directed to the concerned authorities to put it into practice. Then (Professor Maeda Mardan Mohi), head of the Department of Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance, gave a speech in which she welcomed the attendees and professors and researchers from Arab and Iraqi universities. The research contributions dealt with the youth stage in its details and problems, and it was rich in proposing solutions to address youth issues, and put their problems before the eyes of specialists. And the decision makers may contribute to extending a helping hand to this segment that everyone relies on in building nations and reforming homelands. She concluded her speech by offering words of thanks and praise to the conference committees whose efforts, solidarity and dedication contributed to showing this scientific forum in its best form.
The aim of the international scientific conference is to shed light on the problems faced by young people at the levels (psychological, educational, social, legal, health, moral and value). In addition to presenting integrated analytical approaches to assess the current reality and monitor defects in it, which made it a repelling environment for young energies. In order to come up with future visions and paths capable of addressing the problems of the present and establishing a prosperous future that rises to the level of youth aspirations. And empowering them by providing expertise and material and technical capabilities to enhance confidence, courage and the ability to make the right decision in facing the challenges of the lived reality, and working to prepare them in a way that qualifies them to assume responsibility and take leadership positions in society.
The conference included five themes:
The first axis: the psychological and social axis.
The second axis: the educational axis.
The third axis: the economic axis.
The fourth axis: the legal axis.
The fifth axis: the moral and ethical axis.
The conference included (29) scientific papers distributed over three sessions. The conference came out after its proceedings ended with a number of recommendations, the most important of which were:
Activating the role of the Ministry of Youth and Sports by attracting youth energies and directing their thinking towards productive work that is beneficial to society by holding courses, workshops and scout camps aimed at positive education.
- The Ministry of Culture and Information and others should activate and energize the Iraqi media and satellite channels to educate young people about the dangers of addiction in all its forms.
- Authorities authorized to develop and legislate laws in Iraq should activate family and child protection laws, and protect youth from violence and extortion.
The Ministry of Planning is supposed to design a future plan that guarantees a balance between accepting large numbers in universities and institutes while ensuring central recruitment to reduce unemployment.
The security agencies: Activate the role of the state’s security agencies in awareness and guidance, and combat all forms and types of moral, behavioral, and societal degradation in public places or through social media that raise and spread negative, degrading and miserable behavioral contents under various names and pretexts and in a way that negatively affects the building. And the accumulation of values, moral and social society and its members.
In conclusion, researchers and members of the supervisory, advisory, scientific, preparatory and media
committees were honored.
