The College of Engineering at the University of Basrah, in cooperation with UNESCO, organized a symposium on reviving the architectural heritage of the city of Basra.
This symposium is a continuation of the previous steps within the framework of joint cooperation between the University of Basra and UNESCO - Iraq Branch - with the aim of reviving the architectural heritage of the city of Basra.
During the symposium, the progress of the project being implemented by UNESCO in the ancient city of Basra, which has reached advanced stages, was reviewed. The techniques used in the restoration and the challenges that faced the project were clarified, in addition to a detailed explanation of the nature of the traditional building materials used in the maintenance and restoration work of the damaged buildings.
It was also agreed to continue holding future symposiums and exchange visits to strengthen cooperation between the two sides.
