The Department of Geology at the College of Science organized a panel discussion entitled (Sedimentary and Stratigraphic Sequence of the Eocene-Miocene Central and Southern Iraq). The seminar in which the researcher Basma Asaad Ahmed lectured aims at an integrated study from the sedimentary and stratigraphic side of the Eocene-Miocene formations in central and southern Iraq.
The study included conducting field work for rock detectors, as well as studying well information with the aim of describing rock models and making rock slices for facies analysis, and then interpreting the sedimentary environment. Also, studying the transformational processes that affected them and their impact on rock characteristics, studying the stratigraphic sequence, studying sedimentary cycles and the development of the sedimentary basin.
