The University of Basrah was selected among the best three university projects in the world by the classification of innovation (WURI) in the axis of (Crisis management), in which two universities in Iraq entered.
The President of the University, Dr. Saad Shaheen Hammadi, participated in the conference by presenting the crisis management axis electronically, in a live broadcast, directed to the US state of Florida, which was considered the best presentation, as three best university projects were chosen for six axes, and the University of Basrah was a winner among the three universities in the same axis and among the 18 universities whose winning projects were presented.
It is worth mentioning that the axis of crisis management relates to the approach taken by the University of Basrah in light of the Corona crisis by establishing a work team to confront the pandemic and equipping health departments in more than one governorate with the carrier medium for transferring Corona virus samples from infected people in light of the inability to import this material and its global scarcity, and through this team 112 thousand carriers were produced and distributed to all governorates of Iraq, and the work was blessed and supported by the World Health Organization. The university cadres achieved other patents in the time of crisis, including the artificial respiration device, breathing masks and sterilizers, as well as isolation cabins for patients, protective masks, and a kit to isolate the virus from urine and feces, which were considered very important in confronting the pandemic.
