Basrah University Tops the Iraqi Universities in the British Times Ranking 2023

The University of Basrah retained its leading position in the British Times classification for sustainable development 2023 for the third year in a row, as it ranked first locally, followed by the University of Babylon and then the University of Baghdad, as well as its eighteenth rank at the level of Arab Gulf universities.

The classification for this year included fifty-three Iraqi universities and colleges that registered competitive positions in the Times Classification for Sustainable Development for the year 2023, which included 1591 educational institutions from 106 countries around the world.  

The published official results indicated that the University of Basrah was ranked first (401-600) globally, then the University of Babylon (601-800), followed by the University of Baghdad (601-800).

The University of Basrah also occupied advanced positions in the fields of sustainability in (effort for clean energy (102-200) globally and (working from a clean environment) (201-300) globally, as well as (fighting poverty) (201-300) globally, (Quality of Education) (201-300) globally, (Water Saving and Purification) (201-300) globally, in addition to (Responsible Production and Consumption) (201-300) globally and finally (Life Underwater) (201-300)  globally.

It is worth mentioning that the British Times classification for sustainable development evaluates universities by achieving a number of United Nations goals out of (17) goals, including quality of education, health, well-being, partnerships, industry and innovation.
