A master's thesis at the College of Fine Arts at the University of Basrah discussed the parallel discourse and its embodiment in contemporary Iraqi theatrical performance.
The thesis presented by the researcher Saif Uday Abdel-Wahhab included the subject of the theatrical show and its intellectual, philosophical and artistic heritage and its ability to extract the artistic elements, as the artistic image of the show and its direct discourse are not complete without the presence of parallel discourses that participate in making the message of the show.
The thesis aimed at explaining the concept of parallel discourse in the structure of theatrical performance through ideas and artistic elements, and it proceeds in a cohesive and consistent manner with the discourse of the public performance.
The thesis concluded that theatrical thought has a clear role in running the show system, building scenes and dealing with them in a coordinated manner in order to highlight the philosophical value of the show.
