The College of Dentistry at the University of Basra discussed the graduation research (comparison of the physical and mechanical properties of dental materials, polymer and ceramic CAD / CAM) during the activities of the conference on discussing graduation research, which the college is holding for the period from 21-25 June 2023. The committee, headed by (A. Dr. Abdul Rahman Faleh) and the membership of (Dr. Majid Muhammad and M. Zahraa Mazen Al-Hawaz) students prepared for the research
1. Abbas Saleh Kamel
2. Maryam Iyad Mahdi
3. Fatima Abdel-Reza
4. Fatima Raad Ghazi
5. Nabeh Najm Abdul-Ridha
6. Tahsin Ali Radi
The students presented the research to the committee and answered the questions posed by the committee, and the evaluation scores were confirmed, which will be announced later. And (Assistant Professor Dr. Rafid Mustafa Al-Badr), the supervisor of the research, indicated that the graduation research (the research explores the physical and mechanical properties compared between polymeric and ceramic materials used in the manufacture of dental prosthodontics using integrated computer techniques and computer-assisted manufacturing (CAD/CAM). This study aims to identify the differences and similarities between polymeric and ceramic materials in terms of physical properties such as density, flexibility, and thermal conductivity, and mechanical properties such as hardness, fracture resistance, and corrosion resistance.
Advanced methods were used in this research to measure and analyze the physical and mechanical properties of both polymeric and ceramic materials. The results were compared to determine which had superior characteristics in certain areas. It was found that polymeric materials have greater flexibility and better shock tolerance, while ceramic materials have high hardness and good wear resistance.
