Master's thesis in the Department of History, College of Education for Humanities, University of Basra - title of the thesis (Jihad Magazine, its direction, topics, 1980_1981, a historical study)
For the student (Sajjad Jabbar Ta’meh Al-Haidari), the thesis dealt with the study of one of the most important media, political and cultural fronts, which is Al-Jihad Magazine, whose first and main issues were issued between the years (1980_1981) with sixteen issues. It monitored the Islamic, Arab and global reality from the point of view of the Iraqi political analyst and from the point of view of those who embraced an Islamic ideology that has roots, founders and thinkers, hence the importance of this study, which is (Jihad Magazine, its direction and topics 1980 _ 1981 historical study), and the other side is that the numbers of this magazine It is considered rare and contains material and information about the activity of the Iraqi opposition, its political role, intellectual dissertations, opinions and positions, and thus it forms part of the history of disobedient Iraqi political thought. Therefore, the title included a specific date, which is the year in which the magazine was issued, taking into account the roots of the events that the articles and studies concerned with in the magazine, i.e. Its writers did not limit themselves to the events that took place during the magazine's issuance, as they gave the reader historical and political backgrounds about what was happening and is still going on during the magazine's issuance.
The thesis consisted of an introduction, four chapters, and a conclusion. The first, which is introductory, came under the title (Issuance of the Journal of Jihad), which was divided into four sections. In it, the researcher discusses the date of publication, its place, and how it was done. Then the third topic came under the title of the magazine’s chapters and topics, to clarify the number of chapters and their names, and how they developed, then reveals the topics dealt with by the magazine. and its issuance.
As for the second chapter entitled (Iraq Issues in the Journal of Jihad), its first topic was concerned with the vision of the Jihad Magazine of the activity of the political forces and parties in Iraq, and the second was about reading the Jihad Magazine of the different political situations in Iraq. It took place on the Iraqis from the Iraqi regime and its repercussions, while the fourth topic dealt with the repercussions of the outbreak of the Iran-Iraq war and how the magazine tracked it and monitored its news.
While the third chapter entitled (Jihad Magazine's position on Arab and Islamic issues) focused on studying the magazine's position on the most prominent Arab and Islamic issues. The second topic, and the third topic came to clarify the position of the magazine Al-Jihad on the political developments in Afghanistan, the impact of the Soviet invasion, and the fourth topic concerned with the persecution of Muslims in India, which was tracked by the magazine.
As for the fourth chapter, which came under the title (Jihad Magazine's position on global issues), the first section shed light on the Jihad Magazine's reading of the global policy of the United States of America, and the second topic studied the Jihad Magazine's vision of the accounts of superiority between the Warsaw and North Atlantic alliances, and the third topic discussed in The political events in Europe, as monitored by the magazine and the interpretations provided by its book, such as the events of Yugoslavia and its developments, and workers strikes in Poland as well as the French elections. China's internal politics and its consequences.
The letter concluded that the idea of establishing the Jihad magazine was launched by a group that was considered an advanced cadre in the Islamic Dawa Party in Iraq, and I mean among them are the intellectuals and opinion-holders who were able, after the success of the Iranian revolution in Iran in 1979, to gather and coordinate their steps to turn into an opposition that followed the two approaches, the first is media and cultural. The second was a military trend opposing the regime, and it was chosen to establish a magazine under the title (Jihad Magazine) to be an incubator for the opposition thought as well as for the thought of the Islamic call as expressed by its writers, and to be a critic to reveal the situation in Iraq and to present a set of analyzes and interpretations of the situation in the Arab and Islamic region in general as well as The global situation, especially after the outbreak of the Iran-Iraq war, thus being a cultural interface that provided the scholar and academic researcher with material on the nature of the propositions of that political stage
