A PhD thesis in the College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Basrah, discussed the isolation and initial preparation of Orovirus vaccine from infected sheep.
The thesis of the researcher Khitam Qayed Mani included isolating the Orv virus from infected sheep and preparing three types of vaccines, the first of which is the killed vaccine, the live attenuated vaccine, and a vaccine using the clone technique, where the effectiveness of the three vaccines was tested on laboratory animals.
The thesis concluded that Orv virus can be isolated from infected sheep and this local strain can be used in the manufacture of vaccines by the cloning method, which is the best as it gave a highly effective vaccine.
