Under the auspices of the President of the University of Basrah, Prof. Dr. Saad Shaheen Hammadi, and within the activities of the Week of Promoting a Culture of Respect for Religions, which is organized by the Cultural Center at the University of Basrah and under the slogan (respect for religions is a human culture for civil peace).
The employees and teaching staff of the center organized a protest stand to reject the contempt of religions, the desecration of the Iraqi flag, and the burning of the Holy Qur’an, in the gardens of the central library in the Bab Al-Zubair colleges complex.
The deputy director of the center, Ms. Mona Khudair Abbas, stated that the protest stand comes to denounce the criminal act committed by the Swedish refugee of Iraqi origin by desecrating the Iraqi flag and burning and tearing the Book of God in public, and what these heinous acts represent in terms of open hostility, violence and sedition against humanity, noting that the rest of the countries that have unjust laws under the pretext of respecting individual freedoms avoid carrying out such acts.
