Master's thesis at Basra University examines (the effect of climatic factors on the reality of desertification in Dhi Qar Governorate)
The master's thesis in the Department of Geography in the College of Education for Human Sciences examines (the effect of climatic elements on the reality of desertification in Dhi Qar governorate using G.Is) for the student Manaf Jabbar Sadar
The thesis dealt with studying the reality of desertification in Dhi Qar governorate, as Dhi Qar governorate suffers from the problem of desertification, and the phenomenon of salinization is one of the most important images that spread in large areas of its lands. It has a moderate salinity (12.2%) and a severe salinity area (1.8%).
The thesis included studying the reality of desertification using several indicators, including the (SI) index for studying soil salinity, the (EMI) index for measuring wind erosion, and the (NDVI) index for measuring the density of vegetation cover, in addition to using other indicators.
The message concluded. The climatic elements have a clear role in the continuity of the phenomenon of desertification in the Dhi Qar governorate, represented by the two elements of temperature and wind speed, and the northern and eastern parts are the most prevalent of the phenomenon of desertification in the study area. Thus, the risk of desertification is doubled.
