A master's thesis in the Department of English Language examining (Inquiry into the Point of View in William Faulkner's novel "Noise and Violence" based on Paul Simpson's model: A narrative stylistic study) by the student Hanan Hamid Kaddouri.
The present study is considered a narrative stylistic study that deals with exploring a topic of great importance in narrative discourse, which is the narrative viewpoint that is associated with the interactive relationships between individuals, especially in terms of the position aspect of the language.
The study analyzes the four parts of William Faulkner's novel, "Bustle and Violence," according to Paul Simpson’s model, in order to investigate the type of viewpoint of the four narrators, and then compare these points of view to find out the difference between them.
The current study consists of two parts: the theoretical part and the practical part the first chapter includes the introductory notes of the study and the second chapter includes the theoretical framework for the study. The scientific part consists of the third, fourth, fifth and sixth chapters, while the seventh chapter is devoted to presenting conclusions and suggestions for future studies.
The thesis aims at analyzing the novel of clamor and violence, stylistically and narratively, to communicate the difference in the views of the four narrators of the novel.
The thesis concluded that there is a clear difference in views between the four narrators through analyzing the linguistic structures related to the logical tools. It was concluded that each of the four narrators had a language in which a specific type of logical signs prevailed, which in turn distinguished the four narrators from one another.
The letter recommended the importance of the model used in analyzing the novel, as it is an important and successful means of trying to understand the novel of clamor and violence, which is considered the novel by novelists.
