The thesis dealt with (general exams (baccalaureate) for secondary school, third intermediate and sixth grades of middle school, English language. Authenticity is defined as a test of students' ability to use the foreign language in real situations that students face in everyday situations such as using language in a real context. Communicative; it is the relationship between exam tasks and tasks of using a foreign language in everyday life)
The thesis aims to (assess the authenticity of the test in the Iraqi general tests)
The thesis concluded that (the Iraqi general exams for the English language subject for the secondary stages are not designed to test the communicative ability of students. The focus is on language structures such as grammar, vocabulary and spelling more than the linguistic functions that learners perform in daily life)
The thesis recommended focusing on testing students 'communicative ability and not focusing on language structures only and using the computerized test or the so-called computerized test that provides the ability to test students' ability to use language in real situations
