Within the activities of the second day of the International University Sports Olympiad held in the Russian city of (Yakaterinburg), the University of Basrah and Iraq team achieved a deserved victory over its Russian counterpart with two goals to one in indoor football.
This was stated by a member of the Iraqi delegation, Dr. Ghassan Al-Bachari, saying, “The University of Basrah, the representative of Iraq and the only Iraqi participant in the tournament, won a with 2-1 against the Russian Federation team in indoor futsal. The atmosphere of competition today was characterized by physical strength and high skill during which it emerged.”
The sophistication and leadership of the professional trainers from the University of Basrah, Dr. Ahmed Abdul-Amir and Dr. Haider Aufi, thus raising the balance of the University of Basrah and Iraq to three points, qualifying for its group in the competition after achieving victory over its counterparts from the Uzbekistan and the Russian Federation.
It is worth mentioning that the opening of the tournament for its first day yesterday was on a global and professional level in terms of organization and equipment, with the participation of universities representing more than 34 European, Asian and African countries.
