The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, announced the submission of more than three thousand international students to study in Iraqi universities for the academic year 2023/2024.
In his speech during the first scholarship conference held by the Supreme Committee for Education Development in Iraq, he confirmed that the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research succeeded in establishing its pioneering project tagged (study in Iraq) to attract international students to study in Iraqi universities whose official platforms have documented more than three thousand applicants from countries. At the same time, he revealed the ministry's readiness to hold a conference on the internationalization of education, which will be held next November, to host a group of universities that top the first quarter of the results of the Shanghai classification, in order to expand the horizons of partnership between Iraqi universities and their international counterparts, and to consolidate the vision of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research towards transformation. To the Bologna track, global openness, and scientific keeping up with the variables of academic knowledge.
He added that the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research has employed in a thoughtful manner the energies of scientific and administrative scholarships in the academic institution, and that its procedures are not limited to approving scholarships and updating scholarship evidence, but it is also responsible for the course of scholarships granted to Iraq, explaining that the ministry has completed more than six hundred since the beginning of this year. Fellowship as well as research grant programs, visiting professorship and academic sabbaticals, not to mention memorandums of understanding with Arab and foreign educational institutions and cooperation contexts with relevant international organizations.
The conference activities witnessed a number of official speeches, presentations, and a review of the success stories achieved by Iraqi students on scholarships in universities around the world.
