College of Pharmacy Organizes Self-Funded Specialized Medical Mission for Arbaeen Pilgrims
In embodiment of the university's commitment to community service, the College of Pharmacy at the University of Basrah established a specialized medical detachment on the road connecting Samawah and Nasiriyah to provide urgent healthcare for pilgrims.
The Dean of the College and manager of the detachment, Prof. Dr. Falah Hassan Shari, stated that the initiative included a comprehensive team of faculty and staff, featuring specialized female personnel for treating female pilgrims. The services provided included clinical examinations, blood pressure and sugar monitoring, and the distribution of medical supplies such as antibiotics, analgesics, IV fluids, and essential health aids.
This initiative was entirely self-funded by the college’s faculty and staff. It has become an annual tradition for the College of Pharmacy at the University of Basrah, serving as a core voluntary activity that strengthens the bonds of public service and humanitarian responsibility on behalf of the university.
