The study examined: The effect of the fixed role and downward arrow styles in reducing the susceptibility to desirability among middle school students. The susceptibility to desirability is a serious psychological phenomenon due to the negative effects it has on the individual and society, because it exposes those who have this susceptibility to severe deviations when the desirability is directed towards bad models of people. Whether it is morally bad in the conventional sense, or humanly in general, falling prey to this phenomenon leads to the loss of a generation or generations to come, and thus we have a strange, sick, hesitant society that is unable to face its problems or make decisive decisions about them, and thus the spread of many diseases. Psychological and behavioral problems among many members of society.
The study aims:
To determine the effect of the fixed role and downward arrow methods in reducing the susceptibility to deception among middle school students, which is done through testing a number of hypotheses.
Conclusions:
1. Students in middle schools have a level of susceptibility to temptation, meaning that they are influenced by others, and they can be easily lured into adopting wrong ideas and behaviors.
2. The importance of guidance provided in a planned, scientific manner, and the importance of the two guidance methods (the fixed role and the downward arrow) in guiding students who have a level of susceptibility to temptation, whether this level is high or a medium level of susceptibility to temptation. The two methods are effective in reducing it, as they are two methods that rely on simulating the cognitive and behavioral aspects. .
3. The effectiveness of the two guidance methods (the fixed role and the downward arrow) are equal in reducing the predisposition to desire among middle school students, even though the two methods differ in their steps and theoretical foundations.
4. Susceptibility to temptation can be reduced by developing aspects of the personality of those being guided, such as self-confidence, independence, self-evaluation, logical thinking, and others.
5. The diversity of methods and activities used in the counseling sessions for both groups contributed to creating a state of integration in the personalities of the counselors and their awareness of their illogical way of thinking through identifying their thinking errors and adopting new ideas that contribute to making them independent personalities who adopt ideas and behaviors that are beneficial to them and to others.
6. If the two guidance programs are based on accurate scientific foundations based on clear guidance theories, they will have an effective impact on the lives of those being guided, and in changing their way of life and making it much better, and not just reducing the tendency to temptation.
Recommendations:
1. The need for educational counselors to periodically and continuously detect students who have a tendency to be lured and to identify them through tests and standards prepared for this purpose, including the tribalism scale for desirability prepared by the researcher, and to help them before they adopt ideas and behaviors that are not compatible with the values and principles of society, and thus guidance does its correct and preventive work. Developmentally instead of having to undergo treatment.
2. Educational counselors in the Ministry of Education benefit from the two programs designed to reduce the tendency to be tempted to modify cases diagnosed with this trait, and to help them scrutinize ideas before adopting them or working on them.
3. Continuous attention to the segment of students from the parents, school, and community because they are the future generation that will later assume leadership of society.
4. Educational counselors, social researchers, and community police hold seminars and courses for parents about the stage of adolescence and its dangers, and that it is a stage in which it is difficult to predict the thoughts and behaviors of the teenager. If the parents do not find the appropriate way to deal with him and direct him to the right path, he will take bad friends as a role model, gain information from them and reach To wrong conclusions on which he builds his life.
5. School administrations and officials in the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Culture and Information must monitor the ideas and behaviors presented among students in schools and the ideas and behaviors presented in the media that contradict our literary and religious heritage and negatively affect the morals of our children.
6. The combined efforts of government institutions with all their energies and civil society institutions with all their energies and capabilities to create a state of cultural, social and religious awareness to point out the danger of adopting the ideas and behaviors of others from multiple cultures that are alien to our society and do not fit or are not compatible with the culture, customs and values of our society, especially those targeting teenagers.
