The research team at the College of Pharmacy at University of Basrah announced a new scientific achievement to confront the Corona pandemic. University President Dr. Saad Shaheen explained that the university's research team was able to design and manufacture a kit (Real Time PCR) that contains diagnostic materials for Coronavirus.The Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Dr. Falah Hassan Shri, explained that this innovation will help diagnose the Corona virus in one step, as it has been manufactured, and it will be cheaper and more efficient than imported kits, which will reduce the burden on the Ministry of Health and contribute to confronting the epidemic with high efficiency. For his part, Dr. Adnan Al-Badran, one of the shareholders in the manufacture of the kit, explained that this kit was manufactured and designed according to international specifications and is ready to work. Adding that this invention contains a set of materials for examining the Corona virus as well as using two genes for the Corona virus, one (E gene) and the second (Orfb1 gene), and these two genes will be amplified by (Real Time PCR). In addition, the kit contains the enzyme (Reverse Transcriptase) On converting (RNA) to (cDNA) and other materials according to international specifications, it will be a significant, qualitative and national addition to confront the pandemic.
