Under the auspices of the honorable President of the University of Basra, Dr. Saad Shaheen Hammadi, and under the supervision of the esteemed Dean of the College of Computer Science and Information Technology, Dr. Salma Abdul-Baqi Mahmoud, Ms. Buthaina Murad Kareem, a postgraduate student pursuing her Master's degree in the Department of Computer Information Systems, delivered a scientific lecture titled 'Sign Language Gesture Recognition Using Deep Learning Techniques' on Tuesday, 19th September 2023, in the Graduate Studies Hall. The lecture was supervised by Dr. Abbas Hannoun Al-Asadi and attended by several professors from the College of Computer Science and Information Technology and their esteemed students. The lecture aims to electronically recognize sign languages of the deaf and mute using deep learning algorithms to facilitate communication between hearing individuals and the deaf and mute community and make learning this language easier for hearing individuals.
