The College of Science at the University of Basrah organized a seminar entitled (Evaluation of Some Antimicrobial Peptides (AMPs), Secretory IgA (sIgA) and Normal Microbiota in Saliva of Covid-19 Vaccinated Individuals)
by the MSc graduate student Hanadi Hafid Abdul-Kareem the study aims to evaluate the levels and composition of certain components in the saliva of vaccinated individuals. Specifically, this study will investigate the impact of COVID-19 vaccination on the levels and composition of Secretory Immunoglobulin A (SIgA), antimicrobial peptide lysozyme, lactoferrin, and normal microbiota in the saliva of Iraqi individuals.
the study will follow a series of steps including recruiting participants, collecting samples, conducting laboratory analyses, and analyzing the gathered data and included bacteriological examination for the isolation and identification of normal microbiota, that’s including standard culture media, VITEK® 2 Compact system, and polymerase chain reaction (PCR). The microbial composition was analyzed using DNA sequencing techniques. The levels of sIgA, lactoferrin, and lysozyme were also measured using the ELISA technique as indicators of the local immune response.
and the study was recommended that Future researchers should aim to include larger and more diverse sample populations, investigate additional immune markers Researchers may consider evaluating cytokines, chemokines, or other and, it is essential for future researchers to correlate their findings with clinical outcomes to understand the practical implications of the vaccine-microbiota interaction.
