The College of Engineering at the University of Basrah has installed an electronic beam at the main entrance to the college. The Assistant Dean for Administrative Affairs, Prof. Dr. Sarmad Abdullah Abbas, stated that the college portal has been equipped and installed with an electronic display from the Italian brand Nice programmed to contain a database linked to a sensor that reads the card authorized to enter as well. It contains detailed detection of entry and exit, as it is controlled through two methods. The first method is the electrical switches installed on the crossbar, while the second method is via remote control. It contains warning signals and red lamps and is equipped with protection sensors.
The purpose of the portal is to regulate the time of entry and exit to the college with a system similar to the fingerprint system.
