A master’s thesis entitled (Geomorphological processes and their impact on landforms east of Wasit Governorate) was discussed in the Department of Geography and Geographic Information Systems at the College of Arts at Basrah University.
The thesis presented by student Abbas Farhan Aksid included four chapters (geographical factors affecting geomorphological processes east of Wasit Governorate, geomorphological processes east of Wasit Governorate affecting landforms east of Wasit Governorate, geomorphological analysis of landforms east of Wasit Governorate, and the environmental effects of geomorphological processes and ways to reduce and treat them east of Wasit Governorate).
The thesis aims to address the natural and human factors that have an impact on the study area, which affected the activity of geomorphological processes, as well as knowing the emergence and history of ancient times. Among the reasons for knowing the goal of the study are:
1- The description specifies the descriptive and standard characteristics of the Earth’s surface, including its length, width, and height.
2- The description is based on observation during the field study or laboratory or office equipment while reading it.
3- The description process requires an in-depth and broad scientific background, such as maps, geological surveying, soil, and climate.
Thesis conclusions:
1- Geomorphological studies in the study area showed that the area is located within the unstable shelf within the alluvial plain in central Iraq and in the east of Wasit Governorate.
2- Geomorphological studies on the effects resulting from erosion, water and wind manifestations, sand dunes, dusty weather phenomena, and soil salinization have led to finding necessary means and proposals to address these effects.
