My master’s thesis at the College of Pharmacy at the University of Basrah investigated (immunological and biochemical markers of celiac disease among patients with gallstones in Basra Governorate)
The thesis presented by student Moatasem Muhammad Saleh Abbas included a study of the causes of the significant or insignificant effects of both diseases on chemical biomarkers such as liver enzymes, as well as triglycerides, low-density lipoprotein, and high-density lipoprotein.
The thesis concluded with an evaluation of the possible relationship between the two diseases in terms of immunological signs and biological markers. This prospective study was conducted on (280) people, including (140) patients suffering from gallstone disease, in addition to (140) healthy people who were included in this study. the study.
The letter concluded that celiac disease increases the chance of developing gallstone disease by causing a disturbance in liver function and may be considered one of the factors causing it.
