The PhD thesis entitled (The poetry of Abdul Mohsen Al-Kazemi, a study in light of the grammar of the text) was discussed in the Department of Arabic Language at the College of Arts at the University of Basrah.
The thesis aims to study the description of poetic texts - the poetry of Abdul Mohsen Al-Kadhimi - and analyze them according to de Beaugrande’s vision of the text as an interactive event, and in terms of the availability of the seven criteria (casting, plotting, intentionality, acceptability, situational, informativeness, and intertextuality).
The thesis presented by student Miqdad Abdel Azim Fadel included three chapters (the two standards related to the text, which are casting and knitting, and the standards related to what surrounds the text, which included the following standards (situational, informative, and intertextual) and the two standards related to both sides of the text (the creator and the recipient), which are intentionality and acceptability.
The research came out with a number of results, some of which are related to theory and its criteria, which take on the quality of generality, and some of which relate to the poet’s poetry, which take the quality of specificity. As for what relates to theory and its criteria, they are: The research revealed that the textual means that contribute to the cohesion of the text are not on one level, and the research revealed the contribution Deletion increases the level of informativeness of the text.
The research revealed the importance of the criterion of maqama in the textuality of the text, and it appeared that intentionality in the elegiac text contributes greatly to the casting and weaving of the text. As for what concerns the poet and his poetry, they are: The research revealed that the diversity of pure repetition in Al-Kadhimi poetry is widespread, which contributed to the cohesion of the text.
