The University of Basrah showed support and solidarity with the Palestinian people and their heroic actions in defending themselves and their lands against the ruthless Zionist occupation. Various locations within the university hosted main and subsidiary protest events where academic, teaching, and student bodies expressed their support and standing with the Palestinian people and their just right to defend their land and sacred sites, which are connected to the feelings of Muslims and all of humanity.
The main gathering took place at the Karmat Ali Complex, attended by all college deans, their administrations, departments, and students. They chanted national and enthusiastic slogans in support of the events at Al-Aqsa. Palestinian flags were raised alongside the Iraqi flag, remembering the heroic stances of Iraqi forces in the 1940s and 1970s during the wars against Israel.
The staff of the University of Basra celebrated the unprecedented and great victories of the Palestinian people while condemning the brutal aggression of the occupation that targets children, women, and infrastructure. They called on the international community to stand with the oppressed rather than the oppressor.
