The awards, which were in the form of computers, were given to 12 students from various engineering disciplines such as mechanical, electrical, and chemical engineering, as well as the Department of Financial and Banking Sciences in the College of Management and Economics.
Dr. Saad Shahin Hamadi, the President of the University of Basrah, expressed his appreciation for Basrah Gas Company's programs that serve the community and uplift the students of Basrah. He hoped for continued excellence from the students and thanked the teaching staff for their efforts. Dr. Hamadi also highlighted curriculum changes aimed at aligning education with the job market's needs for the future.
He mentioned that students from various college disciplines competed for opportunities to work at Basrah Gas Company. In the future, there are plans to establish productive units or mini-factories in collaboration with the company, serving as training units for the students.
At the end of the honour, Dr. Hamadi, expressed hope for the well-being of the people of Palestine, wishing them a dignified and secure life like their peers in other Arab and foreign countries.
The Deputy Director of Basrah Gas Company, Andrew Wyper, expressed his happiness and joy on this occasion, marking the third year of collaboration between the University of Basrah and the company. He highlighted the mutual efforts to honour students and provide suitable job opportunities for them, acknowledging their potential contribution to the company's progress. The company's goal is to accommodate even more students after the summer training.
Murfat Kazem, the Deputy Director's representative at Basrah Gas Company, emphasized that the University of Basrah is a hub for nurturing scientists and engineers. The collaborative program, initiated in 2021, relied on the company's credibility and the quality of the students, who seamlessly integrated into the company and formed an essential part of its workforce. After the summer training, they hope the students will have exceptional employment opportunities with them.
