The University of Basrah expressed its strong condemnation of the Zionist attack on the Maqadani Hospital in Gaza on Wednesday night, which resulted in the death of over a thousand martyrs. The protest included a recitation of Surah Al-Fatiha for the souls of the martyrs and statements from the university's leadership.
A statement issued by the University of Basrah's Presidency during the protest read:
"In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. ((
Do not think Allah is unaware of what the wrongdoers do; He only delays them for a Day when eyes will stare in horror. Racing, their heads raised, their gaze does not return to them, and their hearts are void.
The mind stands in astonishment at cruelty the likes of which history has never witnessed, the world has never seen a parallel, and humanity has never recorded such an event. The tragic incident of the innocent has been displayed before us once more, with severed children's heads, amputated small hands, and broken mothers' hearts. People are displaced, and blood flows everywhere on land whose soil once bore the footsteps of prophets, was a dwelling for the pious, and embraced the first Qibla of Islam. It was the Ascension place of the Seal of the Prophets, Muhammad, peace be upon him and his pure progeny, along with his chosen companions.
The savage occupying entity and the ferocious Zionist enemy committed multiple massacres in the past ten days, which did not stir the conscience of a world boasting about human rights. However, on the evening of Tuesday, the eighteenth of October 2023, corresponding to the first of Rabi' Al-Thani, 1444 AH, they committed an act that goes beyond a mere massacre. The term 'massacre' is too small in the face of the crime committed with the approval of major countries and superpowers that control the world today.
It is the shelling of the Christian Maqadani Hospital in the land of Gaza. A land now filled with craters, resembling volcanoes, due to the countless deadly bombs and missiles falling upon it. These craters are now filled with the blood of women and children. The blood gushes out and cries with a sound that shakes the entire world (We will not leave our land, and we will not abandon our soil).
Here is the University of Basrah embodying the stance that has been known for Iraqis for over seven decades – standing with the truth and with the cause of Jerusalem. We will not suffice with condemnation and denunciation in the face of this heinous crime; we will continue, and Palestine will remain our primary cause.
There is no power and no strength except in Allah, the Most High, the Most Great."
During the protest, demonstrators also chanted slogans against normalization, the occupying entity, and those who remain silent in the face of its crimes against Palestinians.
