The discussion panel included a lecture given by pharmacist Dr. Duaa Jabbar Sabti, in which she explained that this modern technology relies on the principle of increasing drug absorption through skin patches. The lecture included an introduction to this technology and its comparison with other forms of medication administered through the skin. The types available are under study, as well as the most important pharmaceutical applications for it and benefiting from it by increasing the absorption of the vaccine through the skin without the need to use regular injection needles, which limits patient acceptance. On the vaccine, as this technology has proven not to cause the pain associated with regular injection needles, and it can be used to increase the absorption of other drugs such as lidocaine, as well as cancer drugs, especially in skin cancer, to reduce the side effect symptoms associated with the drugs when they are given orally or by direct blood injection.
