Scientific Seminar: First Aid & Essential Life-Saving Techniques (CPR)
The College of Pharmacy at the University of Basrah, in collaboration with the College of Nursing, organized a scientific seminar titled "First Aid - What You Need to Know," focusing on essential skills for life-saving during emergencies.
Module I: Wounds & Burns
Prof. Dr. Sajjad Salem Issa detailed critical responses for wounds, hemorrhage control, and protocols for antibiotic and tetanus vaccine use. He also examined burn classifications and emergency management based on severity and risk factors.
Module II: Critical Emergencies
Dr. Firas Abdul-Qader presented the principles of managing airway obstructions, handling unconscious patients, and implementing advanced Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) techniques.
The seminar concluded by emphasizing the decisive role of first-line responders in mitigating injury complications and stabilizing patients before specialized medical aid arrives.
