The College of Dentistry at Basra University held an educational symposium on combating drugs in cooperation with the General Directorate of Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Affairs in Basra Governorate.
The symposium was attended by a representative of the Director of Narcotics Control, Brigadier General Hassanein Ali Abdel-Sada and Colonel Ammar Jabbar Abdel Ali
And the journalist Muhammad Haider Hussein from the Narcotics Control Bureau and the Assistant Administrative Dean, M.D. Raed Taha Yassin.
Director of the Follow-up Division, Prof. Dr. Abdul Rahman Faleh Hassan
And Director of the Quality Division, Prof. Dr. Areej Hassan
Director of the Media Division, Samer Farid Abd, and a group of college employees and students.
Media Division official Muhannad Hassan Asoud from Hilal Al-Nadwa explained the most important main reasons that lead to a person taking drugs, including social and family reasons such as the person losing one of his parents, the absence of a supervisory role, or sitting with bad friends, and the secondary reasons for addiction in what is called traumatic addiction, explaining the negative impact of drugs on the life of the user.
The symposium highlighted the large daily number of addicts who are arrested and dealt with in professional ways.
