Dr. Saad Shahin Hamadi, the President of the University of Basrah, visited the Al-Faheh Sanatorium for Addiction and Mental Health, which accommodates up to 40 residents, accompanied by Dr. Abdul Karim Zayer Al-Mouzani, the Director of the Human Development Unit.
Dr. Saad Shahin Hamadi discussed ways to increase the capacity of the rehabilitation centre to accommodate double the current number. He directed the establishment of diverse workshops in carpentry, electrical work, programming, and computer maintenance, where specialists from the University of Basrah would train addiction victims, helping them acquire skills to find an honourable profession for their livelihood.
After joint coordination between the University of Basrah and the Health Department in the province, it was found that visitors to the rehabilitation centre come from various governorates, including Basrah, Babil, Thi Qar, Maysan, Wasit, Diyala, and others. They are waiting to receive medical and psychological services provided to aid in their full recovery."
