This events involved the participation of various other departments within the college, the Date Palm Research Center, the Directorate of Agriculture in Basra, and several agricultural companies such as the Golden Palm Dates Company and the Burhiya Dates Company in Basrah Governorate.
Under the patronage of the President of the University of Basrah, Professor Dr. Saad Shahin Hamadi, and the supervision of the Dean of the College of Agriculture, Assistant Professor Dr Raghadan Hashim Mohsen, the festival featured the presentation of over 50 varieties of Iraqi dates, including soft, dry, semi-dry, and rare varieties obtained from central and southern Iraq. These dates were classified and packaged under the supervision of the Head of the Department of Horticulture and Garden Engineering, Professor Dr. Mohammed Abdulameer Al-Najjar, along with the participation of faculty and students from the Horticulture Department.
In addition to showcasing these dates, secondary products made from palm fronds were also displayed. Furthermore, stuffed dates and their derivatives, which were manufactured in the Department of Food Science, were exhibited under the supervision of the department head, Dr. Wael Ali Suwadi, along with the professors and students of the Food Science Department.
