The College of Dentistry at the University of Basra organized a scientific lecture on the impact of chemistry on oral and dental health, delivered by Dr. Hoda Mahdi Younis.
The lecture included an explanation of the chemical composition of teeth and saliva and the most important minerals necessary to maintain oral health and prevent dental problems.
The lecture showed the most important chemical reactions that occur continuously inside the mouth, which contribute to damage to tooth enamel and jaw bones and the effect of pH level and salivary flow.
The lecture aims to identify the chemical composition of toothpastes and mouthwashes and the chemical properties of dental restorative materials and alloys, which contributes to knowing the best environment that can be provided to maintain oral health.
